DataSure Services invites you to our page regarding:
The SysGuard Security Software for the UNIX System is a security package that assists system and security administrators, computer and security personnel, and computer auditors in analyzing and securing computer systems. Used initially by telephone operating companies, the software is available to other companies with similar computer security needs.
The SysGuard Security Software is a distributed system which consists of two major components: The Security Manager and the Host Tools. Host Tools are deployed on all machines in the collection to be managed and report security related events to Security Manager where the reports are correlated and analyzed. There is only one Security Manager per group to manage the group of machines. One Security Manager can also manage several groups.
The security assessment capabilities help to identify vulnerabilities on each system and assist in their correction. The security assessment tools can be run individually to identify specific types of vulnerabilities, or they can be run periodically through cron to help maintain a secure system.
The monitoring and analysis capabilities can be used to enforce certain aspects of a security policy, and also to notify the system or security administrator when particular types of events are occurring. The Security Manager generates alerts when the number of events of a given type exceed a preset threshold.
SysGuard administration capabilities include the ability to administer the values of a variety of parameters including audit levels, access control parameters, and the locations of SysGuard files. On systems that provide password aging, the SysGuard administration capabilities can be used to administer the password aging fields.
One way of detecting an intrusion is to discover that unauthorized changes in files have occurred. The SysGuard Security Software includes tools that a system administrator can use to establish a baseline containing the digital signature, owner, group, and mode for each monitored file. By comparing the baseline with the actual files, the system administrator can determine if any unauthorized changes have occurred. Tools are also provided that support continuing update of the baseline so that it remains current.
