MagnaVault makes it look like all the optical media in your jukebox are mounted, and transparently schedules access to the optical drives. This means that your application software does not need to know that there is a jukebox behind the scenes; instead, you can simply access data using the same system calls and utilities that you would normally use.
MagnaVault allows you to mount both erasable and WORM media without the massive platter-changing overhead you might expect on a jukebox. A magnetic disk-based, cached database contains all the optical inode & metadata (directory & file attribute information) that is used for all directory operations and file lookups.
MagnaVault also uses a tunable file migration scheme to speed access to your data. Once you access a file within a specific directory, MagnaVault rolls in a portion of each file in that directory, providing continuous access and maximizes overall drive transfer rates. MagnaVault is also capable of operating all drives in a jukebox simultaneously to provide astounding aggregate data transfer rates.
MagnaVault includes our Magna stand-alone optical drive software that supports autoconfiguring of multiple SCSI bus targets and luns, and 512, 1024, or 2048 sector size compatibility.
